New York, August 19, 2024 – Pipedrive, the easy and effective sales CRM for small businesses, today announced the fourth season of its internship and mentoring program, School of Code, starting in Tallinn, Estonia. This initiative offers aspiring technology professionals an opportunity to experience the daily work of a software developer. In exchange, participants receive in-depth theoretical and practical training under the guidance of mentors and, upon successful completion of the program, an opportunity to join Pipedrive’s development team.
Pipedrive’s School of Code aims to empower young people at the beginning of their career paths. “Essentially, the program could be seen as a three-month-long job interview. However, instead of a hypothetical professional relationship, candidates gain hands-on experience from day one. Typically, the recruitment cycle spans several months, from publishing the job ad to interviews, candidate selection, and finally offering employment. The new team member and their manager only get to test mutual compatibility on the first day of employment and beyond. In our learning incubator, participants immerse themselves in the company’s daily life, and through shared successes and challenges, both parties gain a detailed understanding of each other’s strengths and weaknesses by the end of the program,” said Agur Jõgi, CTO at Pipedrive.
In recent years, Pipedrive has thoroughly analyzed team dynamics and the models that best support both product development and effective collaboration. “Diverse teams with varied levels of experience foster both innovation and collaboration. This philosophy has become an integral part of our team composition practices at Pipedrive. Juniors bring fresh ideas, mid-level developers manage key daily responsibilities, and seniors oversee strategic processes, solve the most complex problems, and mentor younger colleagues,” added Jõgi.
"Additionally, teams adhering to the 30-50-20 model are more sustainable, as this distribution ensures a good balance among team members at different stages of personal growth. When some team members are ready to take on new responsibilities and advance to the next roles, others still find sufficient stimulation and learning opportunities within the current project," Jõgi continued.
Pipedrive’s School of Code is a three-month paid program that includes both theoretical and practical components based on technologies used at Pipedrive. The first learning incubator was launched in the summer of 2022 and the company has since recruited participants for the program three times. The first two seasons were held in Tallinn and Tartu (Estonia), and this year, the program expanded to the company’s Prague (Czechia) office for the first time. In total, several hundred people have applied for an internship position, 28 have been accepted into the program, and 18 – more than half – have been hired by Pipedrive as developers.
The fourth season of Pipedrive’s School of Code will begin in Tallinn this October, with applications accepted until August 20. The program’s lead mentor, Mykhailo Dorokhov, is the author of the School of Code concept and the creator of its training plan. As with previous iterations, the learning incubator starts with programming basics based on Pipedrive technologies and continues with hands-on exercises and projects. In addition to technical skills, participants will practice project management, teamwork, and software planning. Concurrently, Pipedrive will continue collaborating with local universities on joint projects and internship programs.
